Quality Research and Development is a key role of Industry Leadership. Beyond increased personal market share, R&D is an investment towards best practice for the industry. Competing, together, towards better products, solutions and outcomes.
The great news is that research, based in regional context and local market demand, can be leveraged to return value on multiple levels.
On the level of product development, objective R&D insights, of course, inform product evolution and hopefully subsequent increased market share.
On another level, these same insights, when shared with architects, designers, engineers and associated professionals, empower this customer base to make informed decisions and astute selections in materials, systems, and methodologies.
The same R&D insights that drive your improved products are in themselves a source of promotion for the product, when shared as an educational content with your professional customer base.
Formal CPD presentations are an ideal forum in which to share the objective regional Research and Development, which has informed your product evolution. Case Studies of these products in action may similarly provide useful objective evidence.
Educate professionals as to what is best practice, in your regional context, and why. Ensure that your products follow through on the aspirations of your own research team findings. And potentially, just perhaps, you may never need “sell” again.
The shallow enchantment of the Push marketing era is drawing to it’s inevitable close; as markets become connected, educated, and aware of the difference between good, better and best vs. just plain old business as usual… no matter how loud it may be shouted.
The future belongs rather to trusted advisors; partnering strategically with clients and stakeholders towards mutually empowered success.
So, why not consolidate your role as an industry leader, share your hard earned R&D IP with your customers, and in so doing remind them as to why they continue to specify your products and services ahead of the field.
It’s easy to imagine that such a partnership, based in authenticity, mutual value exchange, and co-created meaning, may well be the future sustainable face of the industry. So, go share your truth, now; and leave the “selling” to its sad but perhaps inevitable demise.
